LISTENING 2
Tenzing Norgay was born in a small mountain village in Nepal in 1914. He had twelve brothers and sisters and his family was poor. He didn't do to school and he couldn't read or write. When he was a small boy, he started to help his father on their small farm. Tenzing looked after his family's animals. He often took them into the mountains to find fodder. This way he learned a lot about climbing.
Tensing left home when he was eighteen and started to work as a porter. Between 1935 and 1952 he tried to climb mount Everest six times. In 1953, he became very famous.
Two years later, he moved to India and started to teach mountaineering to young Asian climbers.
